*Updated Spring 2025*
As a volunteer for PCYLO, I understand that my behavior and actions have a significant influence on the development of our young athletes and their future participation in, and love for, the game of lacrosse. Accordingly, I commit to the following:
- During practices, games, PYCLO functions, and any other time in which I am representing PCYLO, I will:
1. Demonstrate and emphasize PCYLO's values: Integrity, Respect, Discipline, Teamwork, and Passion;
2. Act with, and promote, sportsmanlike conduct;
3. Collaborate with fellow coaches in my cohort, my Cohort Lead, and my Program Director;
4. Prioritize the safety and welfare of the players;
5. Before and after all games, greet the opposing coach to set a positive tone;
6. Respect game officials and refrain from any conduct that might incite negative behavior against them;
7. Report grievances or misunderstandings between coaches, officials, or any other parties through the proper channels and procedures set from time to time by the Board of Directors or applicable governing body;
8. Not engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse, or use discriminatory or demeaning language, and use my best efforts to de-escalate any occurrences where a coach, player, parent, or spectator is engaging in said behavior;
9. Treat each player, coach, official, parent, and spectator with respect and dignity, regardless of race, national origin, creed, sexual orientation, gender, or ability;
10. Not be under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substance.
- I have, and will maintain, all certifications required by PCYLO, IMLAX, and US Lacrosse.
- I am responsible for reading, understanding, and adhering to this Code of Conduct, the current US Lacrosse Code of Conduct; US Lacrosse Rules for Boys/Girls Youth Lacrosse, and the US Lacrosse Athlete Development Model (LADM). I agree to report any conduct by any other individual that is inconsistent with this to the appropriate PCYLO cohort lead and PCYLO program director.
- I understand that in the event I violate the above, I will be subject to disciplinary action, which may include any of the following, in the sole discretion of the PCYLO Board of Directors (and that all records related to any such incident will be kept on file by PCYLO):
1. Immediate ejection from practice, game, or PCYLO function by any PCLYO Board member, Program Director, or Cohort Lead;
2. Game forfeiture;
3. Verbal warning by the Board;
4. Written warning by the Board;
5. Suspension or termination from any future participation as a volunteer, coach, or in any other capacity.
I confirm that I have read, understand, and will follow the Coaches Code of Conduct
