Spring Season Evaluations & Team Placement Process
Our Philosophy
Player placement decisions and rosters are made with long-term development in mind. For Spring 2026, we will field two teams the IMLAX 7/8 ‘A’ division.
Our focus is on:
- Maximizing development
- Building confidence
- Ensuring meaningful playing opportunities
- Preparing players for high school competition, if that is their goal
- Every decision will be made with the individual athlete’s best interests at heart.
What We Evaluate
Team placement is based on a combination of skill, preparation, and character.1. Skills
We will evaluate:
- Stick skills
- Field awareness and lacrosse IQ
- Decision-making under pressure
- Defensive positioning
- Ability to contribute in game situations
We will run multiple short-sided drills and small-group game scenarios, intentionally mixing players throughout evaluations. This allows us to see how each athlete performs with different teammates and in different situations.
2. Quantitative Assessments
To help provide objective data points, we will include:
Wall ball consistency
Timed sprints
Mid-distance runsThese measurements are not the sole determining factor but provide helpful context when evaluating overall preparation.
3. Attitude, Effort & Team Impact
Equally important to skill are the qualities that shape team culture. We will assess:
- Effort level
- Coachability
- Competitiveness
- Positive attitude
- Being a supportive and accountable teammate
These characteristics matter deeply in building successful teams and developing strong leaders.
How Decisions Are Made
The three Spring PCYLO coaches will each evaluate players independently across the above categories. While we will use grading sheets and data from quantitative assessments, there is no single score or formula that determines placement.Roster decisions are collaborative and holistic. We will discuss each player thoroughly to ensure placements reflect:
- Where she will develop most effectively
- Where she will have meaningful opportunities to contribute and enjoy the season
- What will provide the best team chemistry and help each player grow as a player and a person
Our Commitment
Our commitment is to help every player:
- Raise her individual ceiling
- Have a positive, competitive, and rewarding season
- Grow as both an athlete and teammate
We are excited to work with this group and help each player reach her potential this spring.
